It is part of the Livingston Parish Public Schools system and was founded in 1921 as a community school for the residents of Walker.

Timonet stated;
“They basically told me I should be ashamed of myself and that they were concerned about my afterlife if I wasn’t following basically God’s ideals, which made me cry even more. I felt like my life was over.”
When Timonet told her story of losing her scholarship from Walker High School as a result of a video of her dancing at the homecoming party, social media users reacted with outrage.
She argued that her acts were only for ‘innocent fun’ and even brought her parents to school with her to talk to the principal.
