Michael Blackson is a Ghanaian-Liberian actor, philanthropist, and comedian based in the United States.
He was born Jafari Ferguson to Ghanaian parents and spent his early years in Monrovia and Ghana before relocating to the United States in the mid-1980s.
Blackson’s stage surname is a parody of pop singer Michael Jackson.
Blackson began pursuing comedy after his coworker at Domino’s suggested he start open mic.
His comedic appeal grew from his involvement with BET’s ComicView series, HBO’s Def Comedy Jam, Showtime at Harlem and Live in Hollywood.
However, it was in a Los Angeles comedy club where Blackson got his big break.
Blackson was performing at the Comedy Store where actor/director Ice Cube was in attendance to see comedian Mike Epps perform.
However, after experiencing Blackson’s performance, Ice Cube invited the young comic for a reading.
Blackson has appeared in several films, including Next Friday, The Savages and Meet the Blacks.
He has also opened a free school in Ghana called the Michael Blackson Academy, located at Agona Nsaba in the Agona East District of Ghana’s Central Region where he grew up.

In July 2021, Blackson proposed to his girlfriend, Rada Darling, during a radio interview on The Breakfast Club.
They continue to be together as partners.
There is not much information available about Rada.
However, Blackson has referred to her as a “freak” and has said that she enjoys watching him sleep with other women.
It is unclear if this is true or if it was said in jest.

Blackson spent his early years between Monrovia and Ghana before relocating to the United States in the mid-1980s.
He settled in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania when he was 15 years old, and attended Bartram High School but dropped out to start working and earn money.
Blackson’s comedy career began after a co-worker at Domino’s Pizza suggested he try open mic nights.
He started pursuing comedy and eventually gained recognition for his unique style and humor; he released a sketch CD in 2005, which contributed to his success.
In addition to his comedy, Blackson has also made a name for himself in the acting industry having appeared in several films including Next Friday The Savages and Meet the Blacks.
The comi is also known for his philanthropic work. He believes in the power of education and has plans to build a free school in Ghana.
In early January 2023, he commissioned the Michael Blackson Academy, a school located in Agona Nsaba in Ghana’s Central Region.
