Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua extended his support to Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya, urging him to remain steadfast in his service to the county’s residents.
Gachagua advised Natembeya not to be distracted by critics, whom he referred to as “Court Poets & Masters of platitude” and “Court Jesters,” suggesting they are on a misguided mission to provide comic relief to their master.
He also encouraged Natembeya to continue voicing concerns on behalf of Kenyans, stating that the criticisms directed at him indicate he is making a significant impact by speaking truth to power.
“Please do not let the Court Poets & Masters of platitude distract you from the work you are doing of delivering to the people of Trans-Nzoia County. These Court Jesters are on the misguided assignment of providing comic relief to their master.
“And do not be cowed from speaking out on behalf of the people of Kenya when it’s necessary. The rants and tirade being thrown at you are a clear testimony that you are making an impact as you speak truth to power,” he said.
He emphasized the importance of unity, urging Natembeya to unite the people of Trans Nzoia and protect their dignity and political pride, asserting that such unity would ensure their interests remain a central focus for any administration.
“My prayer is that you will continue to do so, and to unite your people and protect their dignity and political pride. This unity, I assure you, will ensure that your people’s interests are always front and centre of the focus of any administration. May God continue to be with you,” he added.
This message comes amid a backdrop of political tensions.
Recently, National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah accused Natembeya of overseeing abductions and killings during his tenure as Rift Valley Regional Commissioner, particularly referencing bodies found in River Yala.
Natembeya refuted these allegations, defending his record as a diligent public servant and condemning the verbal attacks as baseless and shameful.
Additionally, Gachagua has previously urged Natembeya to align with the current administration, suggesting he should distance himself from opposition leader Raila Odinga and support President William Ruto’s government.
The exchange highlights the complex and dynamic nature of Kenyan politics, with leaders navigating alliances and rivalries while addressing pressing national issues.
