Nelly Akomah was a 76-year-old woman who was found dead by paramedics at a home in Thornton Heath, South London.
She was the leader of the Nigerian Methodist Mission UK and Ireland and a member of Tooting Methodist Church.
Following the woman’s death, Sky News reports that Hugo Da Silva Pires was arrested at Stansted Airport in connection with Akomah’s demise.
Pires was arrested on Friday, June 23, 2023, two days after Akomahm’s body was discovered. He was charged with murder, burglary and fraud.
Further, another person, Catia Feliciano, was also arrested at Stansted Airport, and has been charged with fraud and perverting the course of justice.

A conclusive postmortem examination had not been conducted on the body of Akomah at the time of publishing this article.
The Metropolitan Police said a post-mortem examination carried out on her body was inconclusive.
Further tests are taking place to establish a cause of death.
