Taylor Hawkins was an American musician, best known as the drummer of the rock band Foo Fighters, with whom he recorded eight studio albums between 1999 and 2021.
Before joining the band in 1997, he was a touring drummer for Sass Jordan and for Alanis Morissette, as well as the drummer of the progressive experimental band Sylvia.
Hawkins was born in Fort Worth, Texas, on February 17, 1972.
He began playing drums at the age of 10 and quickly became obsessed with music.
He formed his first band, Sylvia, in 1991, and released their debut album, Frogstomp, in 1992.
The band toured extensively and opened for major acts such as Metallica and Soundgarden.
In 1995, Hawkins was invited to join Alanis Morissette’s band as a touring drummer.
He toured with Morissette for two years and appeared on her Grammy-winning album, Jagged Little Pill.
In 1997, Hawkins was asked to join Foo Fighters by Dave Grohl.
Grohl had recently disbanded his previous band, Nirvana, and was looking for a new drummer.
Hawkins was a natural fit for the band, and he quickly became a member of the Foo Fighters family.
Hawkins played on all of Foo Fighters’ studio albums, including The Colour and the Shape, There Is Nothing Left to Lose, One by One, In Your Honor, Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace, Wasting Light, Sonic Highways, Concrete and Gold and Medicine at Midnight.
He also appeared on the band’s live albums, Skin and Bones and Live at Wembley Stadium.
In addition to his work with Foo Fighters, Hawkins also had a successful solo career.
He released three studio albums with his band, Taylor Hawkins and the Coattail Riders, and he also collaborated with a number of other artists, including Slash, Roger Taylor and Queen.
Taylor Hawkins cause of death
Hawkins died on March 25, 2022, at the age of 50.
The cause of death was a cardiac arrest.
He was found unresponsive in his hotel room in Bogotá, Colombia, where the Foo Fighters were scheduled to perform that night.
An initial toxicology report found 10 different substances in Hawkins’s system, including THC, opioids, benzodiazepines, and antidepressants.
However, the Colombian Attorney General’s Office said that the levels of these substances were not high enough to be considered the cause of death.
The final autopsy report has not been released, but the Foo Fighters have said that Hawkins died of hypertensive cardiomyopathy.
This is a heart condition that causes the heart to thicken and become enlarged.
This can lead to a number of problems, including heart failure, arrhythmias, and sudden cardiac arrest.
