Robbie Robertson is a Canadian musician, born on July 5, 1943.
He is best known for his work as lead guitarist and songwriter for the Band, a rock group that was active from 1968 to 1977.
Robertson wrote many of the Band’s most famous songs, including The Weight, Up on Cripple Creek and The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down.
After the Band disbanded, he pursued a solo career as a recording artist.
