Jefferson Machado Costa, alias Jeff Machado was soap opera actor who starred in Brazilian show Reis, and also worked in production and set design.
He was recently found dead in a trunk outside of a home in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil after going missing for nearly five months.
According to New York Post, the actor’s passing was confirmed on his Instagram page by a family friend named Cintia Hilsendeger.
Authorities said that the body of the 44-year-old was discovered bound and stuffed inside a wooden chest.
Additionally, the chest had been encased in concrete and buried 6 feet beneath the backyard of a house in the Campo Grande neighborhood.
“He had his arms tied behind his head and buried in a trunk that is very similar to the ones in his own house,” the family’s lawyer Jairo Magalhães said in a statement.
Machado went missing in January 2023. His mother, Maria das Dores, 73, told local press she had last spoken to him on January 29.
In his last conversation with mother, the actor had told her that he’s staying at a friend’s home while interviewing for a job.
Maria had become worried when she received text messages littered with spelling errors stating that he had dropped his phone in the toilet and was thus unable to video call her.
