United States International University Africa, also known as USIU Africa is a private university in Kenya, the largest economy in the East African Community.
The university is accredited by the Commission for Higher Education (CUE) in Kenya and by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) in the United States.
It was founded in 1969.
It offers bachelors, masters and doctoral degrees in its six schools of Humanities and Social Sciences, Business, Science and Technology, Pharmacy and Health Sciences, Graduate Studies, Research and Extension, and Communication, Creative and Cinematic Arts.

BSc. in Accounting
This program aims to instill experiential learning experiences that address the intricacies surrounding the changing financial landscape in the globe.
The program provides students with knowledge and skills in accounting, taxation, auditing and information systems through practical experience, case studies, guest speakers and research.
Students can prepare, analyze and interpret financial statements; uphold ethical behavior and apply international audit guidelines when handling financial information.
BSc. in Finance
This program is specifically designed for students who wish to pursue careers as wealth managers, fund managers, real estate consultants, auditors, financial analysts and related occupations.
BSc. in Hotel and Restaurant Management
The program combines the teaching of business management with culinary appreciation.

BSc. in International Relations
It major stresses a global and multicultural understanding of a complex and interconnected world through close study of historical, political, economic, legal, and cultural forces.
Adegree in International Relations will provide students the knowledge and training important in the international business community, government, diplomacy, and private and non-governmental international organizations.
It also prepares students for further graduate study in international relations, international law, political science, or policy studies.
Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice Studies
Criminal Justice is the government-controlled, systematic practice of applying laws for the purpose of social control in society; and for the prevention and lessening of crime and for using court and legal procedures, which necessitates penalties and sanctions for law violations.
The criminal justice system consists of three components; Law Enforcement (Police), Judiciary (Courts) and Corrections (Jails, prisons, probation and parole).
Students receive instruction on the function of each component at the local, regional and national level.
Bachelor of Arts in Psychology
The Psychology program at USIU-Africa is designed to provide students with the necessary background to pursue a variety of professional careers within and related to the field.
Core and area related requirements have been designated to provide the integral background for further educational and professional growth.
Electives and minors, both within and outside the psychology program, allow students to concentrate on their individual career goals and needs.
BSc. in Applied Computer Technology
Applied Computer Technology is USIU’s flagship applied computing degree program at the at the school of science and Technology that addresses the integration, design, deployment and management of computing and telecommunication resources and services, as well as the development of technology infrastructures in organizations.
The field of information technology is interdisciplinary, with applications to all aspects of the economy.
Our program prepares students to solve complex hardware and software problems requiring fundamental knowledge and competencies with the processes of needs assessment, technology transfer, and user support.
BSc. in Information System and Technology
This is a four year program that focuses on computer technologies.
The Information Systems Technology degree program aims at educating students in all program levels in order to provide them with the knowledge, interest, and ethics to become productive members of the information systems profession.
The IST Program is designed as per the requirements of the two accrediting bodies, the Commission for University Education (CUE) and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).

BSc. in Applied Biochemistry
Applied Biochemistry focuses on knowledge and techniques in biochemistry that can be applied to solve challenges relating to improving health and nutrition, forensics, increasing agricultural and manufacturing productivity and sustaining the environment.

Bachelor of Film and Production
This program seeks to create films professionals who are well versed in the aesthetics and technical aspects of film production and directing.
The program aims at helping Kenya and other African countries meet the local media content demand that has been created by the exponential growth of the media industry in the continent.
Bachelor of Arts in Journalism
Launched in 1999, BA Journalism is a three and a half year program for aspiring journalists hoping to gain expertise, with a focus on challenges and opportunities in the industry.
Graduates emerge with a strong subject-matter grounding that enables them to situate news events in their larger context, to ask more informed questions, and to authoritatively evaluate claims made by sources.
During the application process, candidates select to major in one of three concentration areas: broadcast media, print media or public relations.
Admission requirements
Admission to undergraduate degree programs are based on academic achievement at the secondary level.
All applicants are expected to satisfy procedures and criteria for admission to USIU-Africa, and to submit acceptable original documents which verify that they have satisfactorily completed, and met all admission requirements.
Applicants for admissions into the undergraduate degree programs are subject to selective screening based on academic achievement at the secondary level.
Kenyan applicants requirements
Below are standards for evaluating secondary school credentials for undergraduate admissions.

International applicants requirements
International applicants are considered for admission on the same basis as local applicants and evaluated in accordance with the International Academic Credentials Handbook, but must also demonstrate English proficiency.
All students for whom English is not a first language are required to show English proficiency before beginning an academic program.
US citizens/permanent residents must submit their SAT or ACT scores for evaluation. The scores are evaluated in conjunction with the high school grade point average.
Also note that;
- A Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of 79 and above in the internet based, IELTS score of 7 or better, or a Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English of grade C or better is required for those applicants whose language of instruction is not English.
- Meeting the minimum entrance requirement for any of the programs does not guarantee admissions into the University program.
Transfer admissions at USIU
Official evaluation of undergraduate transfer credit is under the authority of the dean or designee of a school in consultation with the Admissions Office.
All degree-seeking undergraduate applicants must submit official high school records (showing date of graduation) and college records.
The Admissions Office evaluates transfer students’ previous academic work completed at the undergraduate level for possible credits to be applied to their degree programs at USIU-Africa.
Allowable transfer credits are formally identified and documented by the Admissions Office. An official transcript must be received before final transfer work can be accepted.
Course descriptions may also need to be provided if requested.
Degree requirements are determined by combining the transfer credits allowed and the required academic work to be successfully completed at USIU. Students can request a copy of the transfer evaluation from the Registrar’s Office.
Transfer evaluation will be based on higher education work completed where grades of C or better were earned.
Applicants with less than 12 semester units completed will have their secondary school record also evaluated. Students who have completed 18 semester units or 27 semester units will not be required to submit SAT or ACT scores.
USIU transfer credit limits
A maximum of 90 trimester units of credit earned may be accepted for transfer from accredited undergraduate institutions.
The final 30 semester units toward a degree must be completed at USIU-Africa to comply with residency requirements. USIU-Africa reserves the right to waiver this requirement for USIU students participating in Student Exchange programs.
Once a student has matriculated at USIU-Africa, all further transfer credits must have prior approval of the dean or designee.
