Jeremy Bash is an American lawyer and former government official who has held key positions in the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and the U.S. Department of Defense.
He was born on August 13, 1971, in Arlington, Virginia, to a Conservative Jewish family.
Bash has an impressive educational background, having graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Georgetown University, where he was the editor-in-chief of The Hoya, the school’s student newspaper.
He later received his J.D. degree with honors from Harvard Law School, where he served as an editor of the Harvard Law Review.
During his tenure as a senior advisor to Leon Panetta, Bash worked on various significant initiatives, including the creation of a new defense strategy, formation of two defense budgets, counterterrorism operations, a new cyber strategy and a range of sensitive intelligence operations:

Bash has been married twice. His first wife was CNN journalist Dana Bash, and they were married from 1998 to 2007.
Bash is currently married to Robyn Bash (née Cooke), who is the Vice President of Government Relations and Public Policy Operations for the American Hospital Association.

He traveled with Secretary Panetta to more than 50 countries and was a member of the CIA’s senior management team overseeing the operation that killed Osama Bin Laden.
Bash has also worked in private practice, practicing law at O’Melveny & Myers LLP, where his practice focused on litigation, high-profile investigations and strategic counseling to CEOs of several publicly traded companies.
He is a regular speaker and presenter at various programs held at Harvard Law School, Georgetown University, and the Panetta Institute for Public Policy.
Bash is a recognized expert on national security affairs, serving as a national security analyst for NBC News and MSNBC where he provides commentary and analysis on defense issues, intelligence matters, the Middle East, China, Russia, North Korea, U.S. counterterrorism operations, cybersecurity and current counterintelligence investigations.
