Adam Johnson was an American professional ice hockey forward who played in the National Hockey League (NHL) with the Pittsburgh Penguins during the 2018–19 and 2019–20 seasons.
He was born on June 22, 1994, in Hibbing, Minnesota, and played junior hockey in the United States Hockey League (USHL) with the Indiana Ice and Sioux City Musketeers.
Johnson played two seasons of collegiate hockey with the University of Minnesota Duluth in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC)[1].
He most recently played with Augsburger Panther in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL) and was signed to UK Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL) side Nottingham Panthers.
Unfortunately, Johnson passed away on October 30, 2023, after his neck was cut by another player’s skate during a game in Sheffield, England.

In a statement, the team described Johnson as “not only an outstanding ice hockey player, but also a great teammate and an incredible person with his whole life ahead of him. The Club will dearly miss him and will never ever forget him”.
The team also said that they were heartbroken at the news of Johnson’s passing and that everyone at the club, including players, staff, management, and ownership, were devastated.
The team canceled their game scheduled for Sunday, and the Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL) postponed all games scheduled for that day.
Johnson’s teammates and coaches joined hundreds of mourners to lay flowers and light candles at the Nottingham Arena.
