Liv Teverino was a 16-year-old junior at Marietta High School who tragically died in a car accident.
She was described as a “scholar, athlete, and community leader” by the school district superintendent.
The Marietta community is mourning her loss, and her classmates and teachers have spoken about her passion, dedication and leadership.

Teverino was killed in a road crash on September 19, 2023.
In a letter to parents, Marietta City Schools superintendent said the accident that claimed the life of the 16-year-old junior happened at night.
Marietta police said the crash happened shortly after 5:30 PM on Burnt Hickory Road near Devonwood Trail.
The police further explained that Teverino lost her life after her 2016 Volvo crashed into a tree and caught fire.
While announcing her tragic death, Superintendent Grant Rivera said;
“Liv was a scholar, athlete, and community leader. As part of the MHS International Baccalaureate Programme and our state champion cross-country team, she embodied passion and dedication
“As with everything she undertook, Liv excelled, leaving an indelible mark of excellence. Outside of school, Liv was recognized as a community leader and was chosen to be part of this year’s Cobb Youth Leadership cohort.”
In the wake of the crash, the school district gathered to support students and staff with Teverino’s classmates say she was caring and would never have a bad thing to say about anyone.
Isaac Phillips who has know Teverino since she was 4-years-old said;
“I think she exemplified what it means to live your life the best that you possibly can and in the path of God, and any person that met her truly was a blessed individual
“I can only hope that everyone that did get to meet her and know her just holds onto whatever goodness that she gave them because there’s a strong chance that nobody else in the world could really give them that.”

Teverino tragically passed away on after she crashed her car into a tree.
The Marietta Police Department said that the accident occurred while she was driving her 2016 Volvo XC90 on Burnt Hickory Road.
When officers and firefighters arrived on the scene, they found the car engulfed in flames, and once the fire was extinguished, they discovered Teverino’s body inside.
Authorities are still investigating the crash, and those with information are being urged to contact Marietta Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP).

Following Teverino’s death, Marietta High School sent a letter to families, the letter read;
“It is with great sadness that I reach out to share news of a loss in our community. Liv Teverino, a junior at Marietta High School, was killed in a car accident last night
“Many of our students and staff are aware of this situation; as our kids head home from school today, we wanted to make sure you were aware as well
“Liv was a scholar, athlete, and community leader. As part of the MHS International Baccalaureate Programme and our state champion cross country team, she embodied passion and dedication
“As with everything she undertook, Liv excelled, leaving an indelible mark of excellence. Outside of school, Liv was recognized as a community leader and was chosen to be part of this year’s Cobb Youth Leadership cohort.”
It continued;
“In remembering Liv, we don’t just recall her achievements but the heart, spirit, and determination with which she achieved them
“This morning, we gathered to support our students and staff. I am grateful for the teachers, counselors, social workers, psychologists, and community leaders who joined us throughout the day to support those in need
“I want you to know that, above all, the emotional and mental well-being of our students, staff, and families is and will always be our top priority
“Students will respond to the loss of a classmate in different ways. If your child wants to talk, answer their questions simply and honestly. Know that it is our goal to walk alongside you to support your child
“If you feel your child needs additional support, please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly
“If your child was absent today due to this situation, the absence will be considered ‘excused’
