Mangosuthu Buthelezi is a South African politician and traditional leader who played a significant role in the country’s struggle against apartheid.

He was born on August 27, 1928, in Mahlabathini, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.

Buthelezi is the founder and former leader of the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP), a political party that represented the Zulu people in South Africa.

He was also the Chief Minister of the KwaZulu bantustan (a territory set aside for black South Africans during apartheid) from 1976 to 1994.

Buthelezi was a prominent anti-apartheid activist and played a key role in the formation of the United Democratic Front (UDF), a coalition of anti-apartheid organizations.

However, he later broke away from the UDF and formed the IFP, which was initially seen as a rival to the African National Congress (ANC), the main anti-apartheid party.

During the apartheid era, Buthelezi was a controversial figure, with some accusing him of collaborating with the apartheid government.

However, he maintained that he was committed to the liberation struggle and that his cooperation with the government was aimed at securing the rights of the Zulu people.

After the end of apartheid, Buthelezi served as the Minister of Home Affairs in the government of national unity from 1994 to 2004.

He also served as a member of parliament and as the traditional leader of the Zulu nation.

I am deeply saddened to announce the passing of Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi, the Prince of KwaPhindangene, Traditional Prime Minister to the Zulu Monarch and Nation, and the Founder and President Emeritus of the Inkatha Freedom Party.

Mangosuthu Buthelezi net worth

The estimated net worth of the South African politician and traditional leader was around $750,000 USD.

However, it’s important to note that net worth estimates can vary widely and may not always be accurate.

Buthelezi is best known for his role as the founder and leader of the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP), a political party in South Africa.

He has also served as the Minister of Home Affairs and as the Chief Minister of the KwaZulu bantustan.

In addition to his political career, Buthelezi is also a traditional leader and holds the position of Inkosi, or chief, of the Buthelezi clan.

He has been involved in various philanthropic and cultural initiatives, including the establishment of the Mangosuthu University of Technology in Durban, South Africa.
