Angelica Ross as a child
Ross was born on November 28, 1980, in Kenosha, Wisconsin, and was raised in nearby Racine.
According to a report on Wikipedia, as a child, the now outspoken activist was perceived as feminine from a young age.
Ross had a passion for acting and musical theater, which she pursued from a young age; before her television career, she was involved in community theater for 12 years.
She has always identified as an actor, and she was prepared to meet the challenges of her Broadway debut in Chicago in 2022.
In 1998, when Ross was 17 years old, she came out as gay to her mother, who was an evangelical Christian.
Unfortunately, her mother did not receive the news well and told Ross that she should commit suicide or she would, because she couldn’t have someone like Ross as her child.
This experience was incredibly difficult for Ross, and she considered ending her own life, even overdosing on medication.
However, she survived and went on to become a successful actress, businesswoman and transgender rights advocate.
At the moment, Ross is a leading figure in the movement for transgender and racial equality.
She is the founder and CEO of TransTech Social Enterprises, a firm that helps employ transgender people in the tech industry.
Ross has also been a series regular on Ryan Murphy’s FX hit American Horror Story and Pose, which features the largest transgender cast ever for a scripted series.
