Travis Rudolph is a former football player who gained attention due to his involvement in a murder trial.
He is a former football player who played for Florida State University (FSU) and briefly in the NFL.
Rudolph was Florida State’s leading receiver in 2015 and 2016.
In April 2021, he was arrested and charged with one count of first-degree murder and three counts of attempted murder:
The charges stemmed from a fatal shooting outside his Lake Park home, where he allegedly shot at four men who had come to his home after he had a scuffle with his girlfriend.
In June 2023, Rudolph was found not guilty of first-degree murder and attempted murder by a Palm Beach County jury.
The jury deliberated for fewer than four hours before reaching their decision.
Rudolph testified during the trial that the men he shot at were armed and shooting back at him.
Investigators did not find evidence of the fleeing men returning fire.
Rudolph played briefly in the NFL, signing with the New York Giants and later the Miami Dolphins.
He also spent time with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Rudolph was involved in a deadly shooting incident in April 2021.
The incident occurred after four men showed up at Rudolph’s door following a fight between Rudolph and his girlfriend, Dominique Jones.
CBS12 obtained exclusive video footage of the incident from a Ring camera.
The footage shows Rudolph running inside his house and then coming back outside with a gun.
During the murder trial, prosecutors claimed that Rudolph was the aggressor and that he shot 39 rounds at the four men as they fled following the fight.
The state showed jurors surveillance video of bullets flying from Rudolph’s semi-automatic rifle as he chased them down the street.
However, Rudolph’s attorney argued that the former NFL player acted in self-defense and that he feared for his life.
The attorney claimed that the four men were armed and that Rudolph had reason to believe that they were going to harm him and his girlfriend.
In an interview with WPBF 25, Rudolph stated that he acted in self-defense and that he regrets the incident.
On June 13, 2023, Rudolph was acquitted of murder charges.
