Aerovia Guayaquil is an urban cable car system located in Guayaquil, Ecuador. It was built between 2018 and 2021 and started operating in January 2021.
The cable car system is a 100% horizontal gondola lift that is 4 km long and carries 40,000 passengers per day in its 154 ten-seater cabins.
It provides fast and smooth travel throughout the transport network, avoiding a 45-minute trip by car. Local services are available, including shops, restaurants, and banks on the different stations.
The project was designed to blend into the city and the life of its inhabitants, with three stations located at strategic sites.
It includes the Malecon Simon Bolivar at the edge of the river, at Julian Coronel park which serves as a hub for the city buses, and finally, on Quito avenue near the Centennial park, right in the city center.
Recently, a viral video surfaced showing a couple from Ecuador traveling in a cable car of Aerovia Guayaquil and getting intimate thousands of feet in the air, which caused controversy and made headlines.

In the recent past, a clip in which a couple were seen getting involved in an intimate moment inside a cable car surfaced on multiple social media platforms.
Many people were surprised as the two engaged in explicit moments in a cable car that was above 10,000 feet from the ground.
Their act was caught on CCTV, and later, the footage was shared on social media.
In the CCTV footage, they were performing adult activities, and reportedly, the cable car manager notified the passengers of Cable 117 that they were under security surveillance.
When the duo in the cable car were notified they were being caught in the CCTV camera, they were shocked, but it seemed like it didn’t hamper them.
Many people also claimed that the pair may have performed those activities to get viral and get public attention.
After getting a huge backlash on the internet, the cable car company also released a statement explaining that they did not circulate the video.
