Kenya Power has named Joseph Siror as its new chief executive, ending a wait of nearly two years for a substantive CEO of the utility.
Siror, who will serve a three-year term effective May 2, replaces Geoffrey Muli, who has been the acting chief since May last year.
Kenya Power has been without a substantive CEO following the acrimonious exit of Bernard Ngugi who resigned in August 2021 amid a boardroom fallout.
Ngugi was the electricity distributor’s fourth CEO in four years.
He was replaced by the general manager for commercial and sales Rosemary Oduor in an interim basis before she was surprisingly replaced by Muli last year.

Siror holds a Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) in Engineering from Shanghai Jiaotong University (China) majoring in Radio Frequency Identification (RFID, Masters in Business Administration (MBA) degree and a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Nairobi.
He also holds a bachelor’s degree in law from the University of London, a pre-Kenya School of Law certificate from Riaral University and a Postgraduate Certificate in Applied Radiation Protection from the University of Nairobi.

He has experience spanning over 30 years in diverse business portfolios, ranging from telecommunications; income tax and customs; manufacturing, information communication, and technology and energy transmission.
Siror was the General Manager in charge of Technical Services (System Operations and Power Management) at the Kenya Electricity Transmission Company (KETRACO).
