Nairobi, Kenya – Genetically Modified Organism appreviated as GMOs are a current topic of discussion in Kenya as far as the hunger situation in Kenya is concerned.
Is this a matter to be solved by the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Agriculture or Ministry of Trade?
However, the head of the Ministry of Trade Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has been the victim for the past few days and tension is still on course.
The CS appointee for Trade by Hon. William Ruto the current president of Kenya, was accused by the Archdiocese of Nyeri Archbishop Antony Muheria of joking with Kenyan lives.
This was after Kuria claimed that the use of Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) was an addition to ways of killing Kenyan people since they were dying anyway.
According to his speech, CS Moses Kuria publicly stated that the 10 million duty-free GMO maize he allowed to be imported can be added to the list of causes of death in Kenya.
This speech caused an uproar among Kenyans.
Do you think this was a good remark to make as a Cabinet Secretary entrusted by the land of Kenya to make such cruel remarks?
Addressing the press at Our Lady Consolata Cathedral in Nyeri Town, the Nyeri archbishop started his speech by saying that he felt that that matter was more than just a joke when the topic was about GMOs.
He chastised CS M Kuria on the issue of GMO foods.
He added that CS Kuria was mocking rather than giving a remedy for the issue of feeding Kenyans amid the hunger crisis.
The Nyeri Archbishop advised the need for experts to discuss the long-term solutions to hunger instead of GMO foods.
Amid the period within which CS Moses Kuria received blows of accusations of joking with Kenyan lives and threats of being impeached from office, Archbishop Antony Muheria also required him to apologize to all Kenyans for misusing his power and trying to put at stake lives and making a small deal out of it.
